He’s back from the dead! and I for one couldn’t have asked for a better comeback. The third instalment of the Bobby Tarantino trilogy is here with a 12 track list. I decided to do a little review by analyzing of each track.

1. introll

The name is an obvious giveaway, it’s an introduction with some little trolling. There’s no rapping but we can hear Logic warming up to get started.

2. Vaccine

We were lucky enough to get introduced to this track back in July 2nd, and it’s about making a comeback with his crew after his 1 year long break. In verse 3 he makes it known that he doesn’t need to do any of this anymore because he has everything that he has ever wanted (“happiness”, “number ones”, “son”, “his momma the one” etc). This shows that it was purely his decision to come back and that there were no other factors.

3. Get Up

Following the release of ‘Vaccine’, this track was released a week later on July 9th. The track talks about the downfalls and the hardships he endured and despite everything he always got back on his feet after each fall. He also mentions the “homies” who helped him through this journey and showed him the “light” when he could’ve gone down the wrong path by becoming either a “fiend” or a “drunk” and he’s thankful for these people that he considers as family.

4. My Way

And a week after the release of ‘Get Up’ we got this gem. People are judging him in all sorts of ways but he doesn’t care because he’s going to everything his “way”. In the pre-chorus he says “if you had my money then you’d do it your way” which suggests that with the money he has anyone would do things they’re way. I think it’s a blessing being able to choose how you do things as an artist without the influence and the pressure of other people.

5. Call Me

This was the last track that got an early release on July 23rd before the full album dropped a week after. Whether its the “world” or the “demons we battle” he tells us to call him at 56442 if things get hard. He also notes that its important to know your own “self-worth”.

Fun fact: 56442 spells out LOGIC on the number pad.

6. Inside (feat. Cynthia Erivo)

Despite the fame and his growing popularity he struggles with himself on the inside. He feels “depressed”, “stressed”, “pain” and scared that he might die. He’s having all these thoughts and emotions while trying to put on a brave and happy face for his fans (“while I’m on stage tryna entertain you”). And what’s even worse is that he mentions trying to cut himself back in 2018 in Pittsburgh. This was the year when Bobby Tarantino II was released and also the year he announced his divorce.

7. Flawless

Logic talks about the love he has for his partner. She doesn’t need a “title” because she’s much more than what words can describe her and “it ain’t a wallet” because she’s not there for his money so you know she’s a real one. And aside from all the physical qualities described in the lyrics she has proven to be a “good girl” and therefore she’s “flawless”.

8. Stupid Skit

Just as the title says, this is suppose to taken lightly as a “stupid skit”. A women gets shot and robbed in this short dialogue. Anyways, moving on.

9. Theme For The People

In this track Logic reminds the people that he will keep on making music to make a statement. He explains why he does it even if it means he has to change his style of rapping. He also mentions that making these statements isn’t what the studio wants and that the younger generation only want to listen to songs about “counting money, sipping vino shit”.

10. God Might Judge

Another track dedicated to his partner. God might judge the things that they do physically but the “boy won’t”. She “ain’t got no title” so in other words it is unclear if she is still labeled as the girlfriend or has become his wife yet. But no matter the title Logic promises that he won’t leave her and he will always come back to her only. He admits that he’s “scared” and asks her to never tell him “it’s over”, so he’s scared of committing the full way but he’s also worried about losing her at the same time. But one things for certain and that’s he loves her and will “satisfy” her.

11. See You Space Cowboy…

We get a little glimpse into what happened prior to the making of this album and what persuaded Logic to make this album. Unfortunately, he mentions this being his “last studio-album on DefJam”…and how he made a comeback because he loves his fans so much. On the bright side, we get to hear little Bobby say “dadda” and “momma”. Awww. I really hope this isn’t the last but only a tease for future albums.

12. untitled

I like to think of this track as an ambiguous one because it doesn’t really act as a closing track instead it leaves the door open for more tracks. I assume Logic purposely named this track “untitled” and in lower cases to suggest something. The track talks about the current trend of rap and how it has changed, and ends with him saying he’s “going beast mode”, so I’d like to assume that he’s only getting started with this comeback.
